Join us for a 1 mile walk or 5 K fun run to raise money for the Lake County Dog Crisis.
Show a strength in numbers while enjoying an early morning, fresh spring jaunt through a blossoming walnut orchard. Enjoy some baked goods brought to you by Mother Lovin From the Oven. Take a shelter dog for a walk. Participate in the raffle for some great prizes donated from generous local businesses. Mingle with local Animal Advocates that are striving to make change. Become knowledgeable about the current crisis and how you can help. Learn about local business participants at the vendor booths. Be a part of the movement to improve Lake County’s animal crisis and or at least keep the situation at bay.
What is the animal
Crisis?
The growing numbers of dumped and unhoused dogs. Unhoused/unaltered pets breeding and delivering pups in rural parts of the county. Dog packs fending for themselves and preying upon domestic animals. Dogs being shot. Dogs being noted loose daily. Dogs being hit by cars. The challenges for low income citizens to afford the cost of spaying and neutering companion animals. Both animal control facilities are at maximum capacity, euthanizing dogs weekly and unable to accept surrenders. People adopting dogs from the streets with big hearts but minimal resources to feed and care for. If we the people can step it up for a bit and assume some responsibility for the animals in the community until the Animal
Control services are able to regain control of the dire situation, we can put a pause on the exacerbation of the crisis.

Your donations are tax deductible and will mostly be used for spay and neuter procedures, food for unhoused and foster animals, supplies for trapping and care of unhoused animals, and to replenish the low funds that are used to run the Mendo Shelter and Clearlake Animal Association.
